The beauty and simplicity of jar candles

To make jar candles – also known as container candles – you need the containers, which could be spare glass jars or glass containers, a melting can or melting pot, wax, wicks, wax paper, and candle fragrance of your choice. As you can see, jar candles are not an expensive kind of candle to produce. In fact, the main component of a jar candle is simply the glass container.

The expressiveness of a jar candle relies heavily on the appearance of the jar or container encasing it. Now, if you do not have any spare glass jars at home, you can simply go to a hobby or crafts store to get your glass jars. A good candle making jar is clear and enhances the color and texture of the candle wax through its own appearance.

Making jar candles

The first step in making jar candles is cleaning the containers themselves. Make sure that they are washed thoroughly and are free from any contaminants. Dry the jars with a piece of cloth or let them to dry naturally. Next, place the jars that you want to use for this project on a large piece of wax paper. This setup ensures that your workplace is clean even if you make a few spills when pouring the wax.

Next, place the appropriate wicks with metal tabs in the jars. Make sure that the wicks are positioned at the very center of the jar.

After that, start melting the wax of your choice. Any type of wax will do for jar candles; you can use soy wax, paraffin wax, or even wax crystals. But you have to melt the wax. After melting the wax, add the color and fragrance and stir well to incorporate the ingredients.

After preparing the melted wax, pour the wax into the containers and allow the wax to cure. For best results, give the new jar candles 24 hours before you use them.
